About the Department:
Curriculum of the Department of Mathematics contains detailed and disciplined learning of different major mathematical fields of pure and applied genre. All the courses have been developed according to UGC CBCS (Credit based Choice System) model incorporating the latest research developments in these fields. Students of this department are always encouraged to participate in various academic events within (like national, international seminars, conferences etc.) & outside the university. We have started the PhD programme from 2020 with an aim of pursuing high quality research. Our objective is to provide every student a journey from Mathematical knowledge to wisdom of life.

Students Excellence:
1) MBB University organized an Essay Competition on Mahatma Gandhi on July 05, 2021 according to the letter received from Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Tripura. The following students of Department of Mathematics, MBB University were awarded in this competition:
Ankita Chakraborty (1st), Partha Debnath (2nd), Ankita Paul (3rd), Sangita Gope (3rd), Kakali Debnath (3rd).
2) MBB University organized an Extempore Speech Competition on “Quit India Movement” on August 05, 2021 according to the letter received from Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Tripura. The following students of Department of Mathematics, MBB University were awarded in this competition:
Sangita Gope (1st), Swapna Debnath (2nd), Tapasi Deb (3rd).
3) Sri Sidhartha Sankar Roy, Sri Biswajit Debnath, Sri Ankit Debnath and Sri Amit Sinha NSS Volunteers and students of the Department of Mathematics were selected to participate in the National Integration Camp, 2021 organized by Tripura State NSS Cell and Directorate of Youth affairs & Sports, Government of Tripura in collaboration with Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India during March 22-28, 2021.
4) A project titled “Impact of misinformation regarding COVID-19 vaccination process in India: A mathematical study” performed by Sri. Sidhartha Sankar Roy and Sri. Titan Sutradhar, students of the Department of Mathematics, supervised by Dr. Debadatta Adak, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics was selected for presentation in the 4th Student Project Programme organized by Tripura State Council for Science and Technology during March 04-05, 2021. This project was awarded the 2nd Prize.
5) A project titled “Mental health impact of COVID-19 pandemic in Indian society: A mathematical perspective” performed by Sri. Dipjoy Saha and Sri. Ankit Debnath, students of the Department of Mathematics, supervised by Dr. Debadatta Adak, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics was selected for presentation in the 4th Student Project Programme organized by Tripura State Council for Science and Technology during March 04-05, 2021.
6) Smt. Swapna Debnath and Smt. Sangita Gope, students of the Department of Mathematics won 2nd and 3rd prize respectively in the Debate Category of the Debate and Extempore Competition organized by the Maharaja Bir Bikram University in collaboration with Tripura State AIDS Control Society on February 06, 2021.
7) Two NSS Volunteers Sri. Sidhartha Sankar Roy and Sri. Titan Sutradhar, students of the Department of Mathematics were selected to participate in the State Level Youth Festival, 2021 organized by Tripura State NSS Cell and Directorate of Youth affairs & Sports, Government of Tripura during January 06, 08, 2021.
8) A project titled “Impacts of fresh water crisis in sustainable development of rural India: A mathematical study” performed by Smt. Antaraa Dhar and Smt. Mam Das, students of the Department of Mathematics, supervised by Dr. Debadatta Adak, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics was selected for presentation in the 3rd Student Project Programme organized by Tripura State Council for Science and Technology during March 04-05, 2020.
9) A project titled “Some measures to eradicate domestic violence against women by substance abusing men in rural India: A mathematical perspective” performed by Smt. Sarmistha Sarkar and Smt. Susmita Sinha, students of the Department of Mathematics, supervised by Dr. Debadatta Adak, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics was selected for presentation in the 3rd Student Project Programme organized by Tripura State Council for Science and Technology during March 04-05, 2020.
10) A project titled “Impacts of Plastic Pollution: A Study in the Agartala Municipal Corporation” performed by Sri. Arghyadip Debroy and Sri. Sekhar Das, students of the Department of Mathematics, supervised by Dr. Debadatta Adak, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics was selected for presentation in the East Zonal Level of Anveshan: A Student Research Convention organized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) at Jadavpur University during February 12-13, 2020.
11) Sri. Debajyoti Goswami and Smt. Karishma Pal students of the Department of Mathematics were awarded in the debate competition on the topic “Solar energy may appear to have potential to be economical but there are hidden costs” organized by Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited/SDA on December 09, 2019.
12) Sri. Sagar Routh, Sri. Titan Sutradhar and Sri Debajyoti Goswami, students of the Department of Mathematics were awarded in the Speech Competition on Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagr in 15th Agartala Pustak Mela organized by Tripura Publishers’ Guild during December 03-15, 2019.
13) Sri Debajyoti Goswami, student of MBB University, Department of Mathematics was awarded for excellence in Extempore Competition on Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay. This event was organized by the Directorate of Information and Cultural Affairs, Agartala on September 25, 2019 at Rabindra Bhavan to celebrate the Birth Anniversary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay.
14) Sri Debajyoti Goswami, student of MBB University, Department of Mathematics was awarded First Prize in Extempore Competition on Bharat Keshri Dr Syamaprasad Mookerjee. This event was organized by Directorate of Information and Cultural Affairs, Agartala on July 6, 2019 at Rabindra Bhavan to celebrate 119th Birth Anniversary of Dr Syamaprasad Mookerjee.
15) Eleven students of Department of Mathematics performed the play “Kenaram-Becharam” Written by Mr. Manoj Mitra, Directed by Dr. Debadatta Adak, Assistant Professor, Department of Applied Mathematics, MBB University in the Annual day Program of MBB University on November 27, 2018.
16) Theatre in Education Workshop: Acting for Creativity organized by National School of Drama (T. I. E Wing Tripura) in collaboration with Maharaja Bir Bikram University, Agartala, Tripura at the Academic Building of Maharaja Bir Bikram University on November 23-25, 2018, coordinated by Dr. Debadatta Adak, Assistant Professor, Department of Applied Mathematics, MBB University.
17) Eight Students of Department of Mathematics have performed a drama (written and directed by Dr. Debadatta Adak, Assistant Professor, Department of Applied Mathematics, MBB University) on the Life and Ideology of Mahatma Gandhi in the cultural event at MBB University to celebrate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi Day Celebration on November 10, 2018.
18) Five Students of Department of Mathematics have participated in the 8th Theatre Olympics organized by National School of Drama, An Autonomous Institution under Ministry of Culture, Government of India supported by Information and Cultural Affairs Department, Government of Tripura on March 13, 2018 at Rabindra Bhavan Amrakunja.and performed a Street Play entitled “Se Ajo Bortoman” Written and Directed by Dr. Debadatta Adak, Assistant Professor, Department of Applied Mathematics, Maharaja Bir Bikram University.

1) Dr. Debadatta Adak, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics was invited by Prof. Nandadulal Bairagi, Coordinator, Centre for Mathematical Biology and Ecology (CMBE), Department of Mathematics, Jadavpur University to visit CMBE as a Visiting Faculty from April 16, 2021 to April 23, 2021 to finalize the research project “Anatomy of COVID-19 transmission dynamics: A modelling and computational approach from Indian perspective”.
