Prof. Satyadeo Poddar

Prof. Satyadeo Poddar is born on 5th December, 1959, started his academic career from Science College, Patna University in Class-XII and finished graduation to Ph.D. Programme from Banaras Hindu University. Dr. Poddar joined Department of History, Tripura University in 1989 as a lecturer and became Professor in 2005 and further worked on various capacities in the University as Heads of Department of History, Bengali, Sociology, Psychology, Rural Studies etc.; Dean, Faculty of Arts and Commerce; Controller of Examinations; Director, College Development Council; Director, Centre for Gandhian Studies; Coordinator of Manuscript Resource Centre and Manuscript Conservation Centre, Tripura University. Prof. Poddar participated in the NAAC activities of University as a coordinator and worked as a member of Board of Faculties for Post Graduate Studies, Board of Studies, Executive Council, Academic Council and Court. As a Secretary and President of Tripura University Teachers’ Council, Prof. Satyadeo Poddar showed keen interest for the academic advancement of teaching faculties and University.

Professor Satyadeo Poddar has published more than 50 research papers in a journal of national and international repute; wrote 5 books, attended more than 100 academic events as a resource person within and outside Tripura. Prof. Poddar completed his UGC Major Project on Gandhian Peace Studies and also Minor projects on tribal studies. Prof. Poddar availed Indian Council of Cultural Relations visiting Chair, Ministry of Culture, Government of India in 2014 and delivered extensive lectures in Shenzhen University, China and also participated in the academic activities of other Universities of India as a visiting teacher. Prof. Poddar also supervised 9 Ph.D. Scholars and popularized History discipline beyond University as a Secretary of Tripura Historical Society.

At present Prof. Poddar is working as a Vice-Chancellor, MBB University, Agartala.
