The Department started its journey on 10th August, 2016. Earlier the Department was named as Department of Public Administration. However, the Department has been renamed as Department of Political Science from May 5, 2021. The basic objective of the Department is to train Post Graduate Students thoroughly in all branches of the discipline. The curriculum of the Department focuses on the theoretical concepts as well as recent empirical aspects in the discipline. This is expected to enrich the students with necessary conceptual awareness to undertake further specialized studies and research activities in Political Science and other allied disciplines.
The core research areas include Indian Political Theory, Western Political Thought - I, Western Political Thought – II, Indian Political Thought, Indian Government and Politics, Public Administration: Concept, Theories and Approaches, Comparative Politics: Concept, Theories and Approaches, International Relations, Research Methodology, Political Processes in India, India’s Foreign Policy. The faculty has published its research as books with reputed publishers and articles in refereed national and international journals. It has also taken up socially and politically relevant research projects, which have enhanced the understanding of socio-political phenomena. The faculties of the department have been part of academic committees, policy bodies and journal boards.
