Dr. Bindu Ranjan Chakma

Dr. Bindu Ranjan Chakma is working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science, Maharaja Bir Bikram University. He obtained his graduate and post graduate degrees from the Department of Political Science and International Relations, Jadavpur University, Kolkata. Dr. Chakma obtained his M. Phil Degree from the Department of Political Science, Delhi University and Ph. D Degree in Political Science from Tripura University. He qualified NET with JRF and did his M. Phil under Junior Research Fellowship scheme of the University Grants Commission.
Dr. Chakma worked as a Post Graduate Teacher in Political Science at Ramkrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Viveknagar, Agartala in the academic year 2000-2001. He joined Tripura College Service on January 05, 2004 as Assistant Professor under the Department of Higher Education, Government of Tripura. He worked as Assistant Professor in Political Science at Netaji Subhas Mahavidyala, Udaipur, Swami Vivekananda Mahavidyalaya, Mohanpur and Ramthakur College till joining Maharaja Bir Bikram University, Agartala as Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science in June 2017.
At Maharaja Bir Bikram University, apart from his association with the Department of Political Science as a faculty and Head of the Department from May 28, 2019 to August 9, 2021, he has working experience as Coordinator of the Department of History and IMD programmes. NET/SLET coaching center. During his tenure as Head of the Department, he worked as Vice Chairman of the Borad of Post Graduate Studies and Chairman of the Board of Under Graduate Studies in Political Science. He is also the Chairman of the Departmental Research Committee (DRC) in the Department of Political Science and English. He is a member of Research Advisory Committee of the Research Scholars, Department of Political Science, Maharaja Bir Bikram University. Three Research Scholars have been working under his supervision.
Dr. Chakma authored Stateless People in a ‘New Global Order’ and co-authored ‘Ethnic Unrests and India’s Security Concerns’. He edited ‘Environmental Administration: Concepts, Issues and Challenges’, ‘Buddhism and Sanatana Dharma: In Search of Sustainable Peace, Harmony and Development’. He also co-edited ‘Ethnic Integration in the Northeast India: Issues and Challenges’, ‘Northeast India: Before and After Partition’. To his credit, he has eleven publications in national and international journals (both peer reviewed and UGC listed) and eight chapters in edited volumes.
He participated in more than thirty-two national and international seminars in and outside Tripura with paper presentation on various issues specially on ethnic problems, geo politics and environmental issues. Out of these presentations, he delivered fifteen invited lectures. He also chaired technical sessions as Resource Person in many of such seminars. He has the experience of organizing seven seminars as Organizing Secretary/Convenor at Maharaja Bir Bikram University.
